great store. i went yesterday after their closing time to pick up a pair of goggles for overcast conditions, if i were to ski today. i ended up not skiing, so my goggles are still new, but i had taken them out of the package (and ripped the package a little). i wanted to switch the frames out, get a different color, so i called up and they said it would be fine. i was rushing yesterday, so i didn't think to ask, but it was nice of them to be accomodable. i take off one star, because their prices are like everywhere else (yeah, mountain sports are expensive, which acts like a barrier to entry, even though it is mostly the manufacturers' over marketing that drives up costs)
I pulled up in front of mountain riders today with the goal of making two stops---first the liquor store across the street followed by browsing in Mountain Riders. While my wife waited in the car with our three kids, I walked toward the nearby liquor store. The owner of Mountain Riders ran out of the store and began an expletive-laced tirade at my wife and at me, telling us we couldn't park in front of his store. While we politely tried to explain that we were planning on visiting his store, he continued to insult and berate us. Very odd behavior.
Our conclusion--avoid this store at all costs. There are plenty of other places in Ludlow where you can rent equipment--after our bizarre encounter with the angry and aggressive owner of Mountain Riders, we went to Northern Ski Works down the street where the staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and generous with their time.
